Breast cancer is a cause that is personal to so many people at our company. That’s why we’re joining the nation’s largest network of breast cancer events — the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. We’ll raise money and awareness and together we can continue to save lives.
The American Cancer Society is an important resource for women who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer. We owe it to those women to support the organization that does more than any other for them by funding innovative research and providing free information and services.
We are proud to be participating in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and thrilled about the difference that our associates and their families are making to save lives from breast cancer.
The Classic For Columbus football game between Central State University from Ohio and Kentucky State University was played at Ohio Stadium on Saturday, August 28 at 2pm. Prior to kick-off, on the campus of The Ohio State University, the Professional Football Player’s Mother’s Association (PFPMA)hosted a one-hour Health and Wellness community exercise activation: Charg’d Up, led by former NFL Baltimore Ravens, and Arena football player Philipe “Philly” Weeden. Following Charg’d Up, PFPMA conducted an engaging, in-depth panel discussion, free to the public, with NFL moms, NFL players and other special guests, as part of PFPMA's signature Next Level Up -Beginning with End in Mind. The Next Level Up program is aimed to prepare high school and collegiate athletes, and their parents, with information and insight that will assist them in building a strong foundation for success. “We are excited to be part of this historic event that shares in our commitment to promoting educational programs in the areas of health and wellness, financial literacy, and developing student athletes,” said Gwendolyn Jenkins, PFPMA president. “Our partnership with Classic For Columbus helps us share our voice and give insight to student athletes and parents on how to prepare to win in the game of life at the next level, beginning with the end in mind." August is National Wellness Month and considering the delta variant and any other variants of COVID that may arise, we must be even more vigilant about our health and the state of our wellness. How well we are is totally within our control, as wellness is a process of making choices to achieve a healthy, happy and fulfilling life. If you haven’t begun to focus on your personal wellness, let National Wellness Month be the catalyst to creating healthy habits that focus on self-care, managing stress, relaxation and finding happiness and a sense of calm in the most basic of activities, such as walking and deep breathing.
More ways to commemorate National Wellness Month include:
Being more diligent about your exercise routine
Drinking more water
Being kind to your eyes
Getting enough sleep
In the words of author Elizabeth Fishel, "a sister is both your mirror —and your opposite." Please join me Sunday, August 1, 2021 in commemoration of National Sisters Day, celebrated the first Sunday in August every year around the world. Let's recognize our prowess and power as sisters and friends, as well as being a blessing to each other, individually and collectively as an organization.
While each of us has our own personal journey, it's comforting to know that we have a sisterhood that connects us, supports us and lifts us up during the light and dark parts of our journey. Our sisterhood is the solidarity of our shared conditions, experiences and interests.
National Sisters Day aligns with PFPMA's mission to support the mothers of professional football players, wherein we discover a lasting sisterhood through PFPMA relationships. Women supporting women is a mantra upon which PFPMA was established and is a song we sing individually and together to meet our mission to strengthen PFPMA and ourselves. PFPMA is a sisterhood like no other; a beacon lighting the way of our paths.
Our sister, Velzina Williams, Southern Regional Coordinator, has proposed a wonderful way for us to celebrate each other as sisters and PFPMA as a sisterhood of mothers; and it would be great to have 100% membership participation.
Here's how:
Also, as some of us may not be on social media, let's each take a moment and connect with a new or existing PFPMA member and make sure that she knows she is supported and appreciated. (Our interactive member directory can be found in our new PFPMA Info Hub.
Dear Members, PFPMA Membership Committee needs your help. For the next few months we will feature our members on social media and you can be part. You can provide us with a video of your PFPMA experience by following the instructions below. If you don't care to record a video, you can also submit a picture and a statement by using Member Spotlight - Interest Form Thank you in advance.
