PLAYERS ASSOCIATION INJURED RESERVE PROGRAM

All active NFL players are invited to attend the 2022 Players Association Injured Reserve (PAIR) program happening December 1st - 3rd at EXOS Pensacola, a program that is FREE of cost.

This exclusive opportunity for players include:

  • Free first class- flight
  • Luxury accommodations at Hilton Pensacola Beach, FL
  • Programming and activities for the player and their guest
  • An extension of their rehab plan and recovery advice from experts and trainers at EXOS
  • Wellness Programming from sleep experts, psychologists & more

  • Panel discussions with players who have navigated IR in their career

Mid-West. Region Sock Drive

RE:  Mid-West Regional Sock Drive

The Professional Football Players Mothers Association, the Mid-West Region, will host a. community sock drive. Our very own Roslyn Peoples will be spearheading this sock drive by representing PFPMA in the Detroit, Michigan area. This event aims to collect over 200 pairs of new socks and hygiene items, to be distributed to the Life After Care, foster care facility in Detroit, Michigan.  We understand the tremendous need for high school boys to have an intact support system as they navigate into adulthood. This generous act will shower these foster care boys, with a gift of love. and warmth.

Who is Life After Care?

The Life After Care, is a non-profit organization based in Detroit, Michigan. They provide essential life skill training to high school boys, living in foster care facilities, necessary to sustain them beyond the foster care system. The program began in 2019, by Jazlee Trouser, a former foster care resident. Her motto ‘It takes a Village’ has been making a difference in the community by providing training in financial literacy, character development and career exploration for high school boys graduating into adulthood.

What is PFPMA's role?

PFPMA's role is to support this cause by collecting and distributing donated socks to Roz Peoples, so she can deliver them to Ms. Trouser at the facility. On behalf of PFPMA’s Mid-West Region and the organization, Roz will package the socks along with other essential items for the boys.

Ways to Contribute

Roz, will be accepting donations of socks  November 8-22, 2022. If anyone would prefer to donate money towards the purchase of socks, you may do so by contacting Nicole Ward, Midwest Regional Coordinator at  [email protected].    All donations are requested to be sent before November 20, 2022.

For more information and to learn how you can support with a donation of socks, please contact Roz Peoples at 248 622-9494.

Think Next

SEASON KICK-OFF

It’s that time of year again; pre-season is over and the NFL football season is kicking off tonight at 8:20 ET with the Bills vs. the Rams.

As many of us are gearing up to watch, some of us are still enjoying the last days of summer, squeezing the last bit of rest and relaxation out of them. For the first time in two years we are back to some semblance of normalcy around play, health and safety and living life in general.

I’m excited to welcome everyone back to football and to the 25th anniversary year of the Professional Football Players Mothers Association Inc.  With the support from our members, I look forward to a productive year of programs and activities that will include a new member orientation; a new member mentoring program which comprises veteran mothers serving as champions for new and incoming members; working with the NFLPA to enhance the PFPMA website to serve as a productive resource hub for our members; a relaunch of our PFPMA Scholarship program; and once again hosting our “Next Level Up-Beginning with the End In Mind”, a much needed program for high school and college athletes and their parents and guardians.

For this 2022-2023 year two words come to mind, “Think Next.” We’re on the precipice of a lot of good things that will bring good progress for PFPMA, Inc.  Thank you for your support.

Let's go!

Gwendolyn V Jenkins, PFPMA President

NATIONAL WELLNESS MONTH

August is National Wellness Month and considering the delta variant and any other variants of COVID that may arise, we must be even more vigilant about our health and the state of our wellness.  How well we are is totally within our control, as wellness is a process of making choices to achieve a healthy, happy and fulfilling life.  If you haven’t begun to focus on your personal wellness, let National Wellness Month be the catalyst to creating healthy habits that focus on self-care, managing stress, relaxation and finding happiness and a sense of calm in the most basic of activities, such as walking and deep breathing.

More ways to commemorate National Wellness Month include:

  • Being more diligent about your exercise routine

  • Drinking more water

  • Being kind to your eyes

  • Getting enough sleep
